The Art Club members at the Middle School of Plainville recently created a gift basket full of handmade ceramic snowman ornaments for Plainville Senior Center

A group of students from the Middle School of Plainville traveled to the Future Workforce Opportunities Fair, held at the Hartford Convention Center on November 20th.

MSP welcomed local author Leslie Connor on December 5, 2019. Mrs. Connor gave two large group presentations followed by a writer's workshop in the MSP library. She discussed her writing process, one students were surprised to learn was begun each day by a brisk walk with her dogs to provide time to think before she settled down to write.

Dedicated members of the Middle School of Plainville’s Robotics program and their families recently hosted a flapjack fundraiser at the Applebee's Restaurant in Plainville.

Students from MSP traveled with their teachers, Kim Coyle and Camille Westfall, to the Future Workforce Opportunities Fair, which was held at the Hartford Convention Center on November 20th.

Art Club Answers the Governor's Call!

Two Middle School students and their families were among the recipients honored at the twenty-sixth Annual Superintendent's Award Luncheon on Friday, November 1, 2019.

The Middle School of Plainville School Counseling Department hosted a "new student breakfast" event on October 24th.

As part of the Plainville Community Schools Summer School Program, a group of middle school students in Karen Troiano’s class participated in a variety of team building exercises through a variety of STEM related activities.

The Middle School of Plainville Robotics Program, lead by faculty members Camille Westfall and Laurel Schwartz, received a grant from the Plainville Community Fund

Plainville Community School's +K.I.K. (Positive Kids Influencing Kids) Peer Mentor Group recently had a special visit from motivational speaker Kristin O'Connor Vece (front row, center). This event was made possible thanks to a generous grant from the Elizabeth Norton Trust Fund.

The top readers at MSP held a celebration in the library recently. Mrs. Lynch, MSP library information teacher, kept track of the students who read the most books on their own this year at MSP.

Middle School of Plainville sixth graders enjoyed "Chariot of the Sun" with Jeffrey Benoit on May 24th. This one-man show exposed students to the heroes, gods/goddesses, and monsters of Greek mythology.

The Middle School of Plainville’s Student Council (with advisor / faculty member Melinda Buthe) recently hosted a Blood Drive at the Middle School in conjunction with the American Red Cross.

The Middle School of Plainville Robotics Teams, together with faculty members / advisors Camille Westfall and Laurel Schwartz, attended the Student Manufacturers Connection Fair held at the Connecticut State Capitol on April 24th!

Sixth grade students in Christina Corvello's sixth grade science classes at the Middle School of Plainville recently prepared an NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards) lesson to teach kindergarten students in Shannon Bakaysa's class at Linden Street School. The Linden students learned how to make a lava lamp during the lesson.

Professional Storyteller Tom Lee visited the Middle School of Plainville on March 26th to support the sixth grade study of Mesopotamia.

Plainville resident and dog sled runner, Joan Kaczmarczyk, visited the Middle School of Plainville on March 14th to speak with sixth graders about the care and training of sled dogs and the sport of sled racing.

The VEX IQ Robotics State Championship was held this past Saturday at the Middle School of Plainville. Continuing their season-long winning streak, three teams from the Middle School of Plainville qualified to travel to Worlds.   

The Middle School of Plainville’s Student Council organized the second annual "Souper Bowl Collection" from 01/22/19 to 02/01/19.

It was a heartwarming afternoon Monday as members of the Kids in the Middle club hung the scarves and coats collected from the Chase the Chill project.

On Tuesday night, January 15, MSP's 80 member 6th-grade chorus and 90 member 6th-grade band filled the Plainville High School auditorium with songs and sounds of winter. In addition, the 7th and 8th-grade choruses performed their winter concerts at MSP on Thursday.

Plainville Community Schools volunteer mentor/Webster Bank employee Prashanth Narayanan and his Middle School student mentee Ameer Alhameedawi were selected to appear in a Webster Bank mentoring video as part of National Mentoring Month in January. Prashanth and Ameer have been paired in the mentor program for six years.

On December 16th, 28 students at the Middle School of Plainville (MSP) participated in a Bystander to Ally workshop led by representatives from the Anti-Defamation League (ADL).

Eight officers of the Middle School of Plainville's Technology Student Association participated in a leadership event.

MSP students joined their PHS classmates in the modification of a Go Baby Go vehicles. They worked on a miniature MiniCooper!

Middle School of Plainville faculty member Camille Westfall was honored by the Connecticut Technology and Engineering Education Association (CTEEA) at their annual state conference held at Portland High School on November 6th

On Monday, November 12th, 2018 the MSP community invited Veterans to the school to both thank the Veterans for their service while teaching students about the significance of Veterans Day.

Mrs. Coyle and Ms. Westfall, Technology/Engineering teachers at the Middle School of Plainville, brought 8th-grade girls to a "Girls and Manufacturing” event held in Cromwell.

Teachers at MSP dressed in Costume on October 31. Students "voted" for their favorite costumes by donating their spare change. All funds raised went to benefit the Plainville Food Pantry.

Phil Bildner, author of the popular Rip & Red series, and twenty other titles, presented three very enthusiastic sessions for all of MSP's students on October 25. 2018. 

On October 5th representatives from the Anti Defamation League led a workshop with students at the Middle School of Plainville (MSP). Students shared their own thoughts and stories while learning about many different forms of discrimination.

The Plainville Community Schools’ +K.I.K. (Positive Kids Influencing Kids) Peer Mentor Group celebrated their last visit of the school year with a pizza party and scavenger hunt at Plainvlle High School. The 11th grade mentors welcomed their 8th-grade middle school mentees to the high school to show them around the building and introduce them to teachers and staff members.

The Middle School of Plainville's "Top Readers" recently gathered for a photograph. Students read hundreds of book this school year.

The Connecticut Association of Schools established the Scholar-Leader Banquet in 1985 to give public recognition to one boy and one girl from each middle level school in Connecticut who have distinguished themselves in scholarship and leadership in school and the community.

Twice Nutmeg nominated author Lynda Mullaly Hunt visited MSP on May 30. She provided motivating and enthusiastic presentations to all of MSP's students.

Middle School of Plainville sixth grade students recently enjoyed a performance of the "Chariot of the Sun” presented by Mr. Jeffrey Benoit.

MSP students recently attended the annual Technology Student Association (TSA) competition, held at Conard High School in West Hartford. The Middle School of Plainville swept the awards in Dragster Design.

MSP's library sponsored a Read-a-Thon from January 2 - April 2. All grade 6 & 7 students at MSP were invited to participate.

Student Council at MSP hosted their 3rd food drive of the school year called the "Food Hunt for Hunger." at Walmart in Bristol on Friday, 03/30/18.

The Middle School of Plainville celebrated Rare Disease Awareness Day by supporting the Glut1 Deficiency Foundation in honor of a 7th-grade student, Braden Shumbo.

At the Middle School of Plainville, one part of the Physical Education curriculum focuses on introducing lifetime sports / wellness activities to students. So far this year, the middle school students have been introduced to classes in golf, bowling and currently ZUMBA

MPS had its annual Read Across America celebration on Friday, March 2. NEA's Read Across America is a fun, celebratory way to promote the enjoyment of reading.

On January 13th, four teams from the Middle School of Plainville traveled to the Bolton VEX IQ Competition.

Students in The Middle School of Plainville’s Art Club are celebrating the Thanksgiving season by giving back to the community.

As part of College Awareness month, MSP held a spirit day on October 19.

Kids in the Middle (or KIM) is run by Plainville Youth Services and sponsored by the United Way. It offers volunteer and community service opportunities for middle school students.
