On January 13th, four teams from the Middle School of Plainville traveled to the Bolton VEX IQ Competition. Both coaches, Middle School faculty members Camille Westfall and Laurel Schwartz, commented, "This was our toughest competition of the year so far. The students were focused on improving both their driving and robot design after seeing how the robots compared to other teams." Out of 22 teams, team "Chicken Nuggets", Zach Finkelstein, Matt Bonney, and Tim Paradis came in 4th, team "Alpha Wolves", Caitlin Stilwill, Dan Talarico, Seth Lahoud and Jacob Keen came in 13th, and team "Salt Crew", Nick Grabowski, Jon Marfia, and Konrad Koc, came in 9th. The "Night Hawks" team, Alex Calver and Nick Kafka, came in first place and won the "Skills" award that combines both individual driving and programming scores. In addition, they won the "Excellence" award for the highest overall performance in all categories for the day.
