Kids in the Middle (or KIM) is run by Plainville Youth Services and sponsored by the United Way. It offers volunteer and community service opportunities for middle school students. To join or learn more about the KIM program all students are invited to attend our monthly lunch meetings.

Our first project this school year was collecting donations for the “Spare Change Drive” to benefit victims of Hurricane Harvey. This was followed by an afternoon of making crafts for the “KIM Cares” project. Similar to a “Sunshine Fund”, this project aims to spread cheer and well wishes to those going through a hard time. A few times a year student volunteers will gather to make crafts and other gifts to donate to local senior centers, rehab facilities and shelters.

Other upcoming activities include helping the Park and Recreation Department at the Plainville Pumpkin Fest, volunteering at Elementary Schools’ fall events, and participating in the Plainville Monster Dash. We will have many more opportunities for members to give back to their community as the holiday season approaches!
