Student Council, at MSP, has been spear-heading events to help support our MSP family via funds raised for the Hematology and Oncology Department at CCMC. To kickoff this fundraiser, Student Council hosted a "Fall-O-Ween" Dance on 11/06/17. All funds generated from ticket and snack sales from that dance went to the collection for CCMC. The dance was followed by a "Color for a Cure" Spirit Day on 11/22/17. Each grade at MSP was assigned a color to raise awareness of a specific cancer -- 6th-grade wore orange for Leukemia Awareness; 7th-grade wore yellow for Childhood Cancer Awareness; and 8th-grade wore pink for Breast Cancer Awareness. Students were encouraged to make a donation of, at least, $1 along with wearing a specific color on 11/22/17. 450 students, faculty and staff members at MSP participated in this spirit day. The fundraising efforts for the Hematology and Oncology Department at CCMC concluded on 12/08/17 with a "PJ Day for the Kids" Spirit Day. "PJ Day for the Kids" is a state-wide event. The 7th-annual event had a mission of not only raising money but of honoring the brave kids fighting cancer and serious illnesses at CCMC. MSP, Wheeler, Linden, and Central Office teamed together, along with students and businesses across CT, to wear pajamas as well as collect funds for CCMC on 12/08/17 in an effort to support patients who have no choice but to be in their pajamas. All of these events were empowering, and we wish our MSP family, and all families, the best in their journey for a speedy recovery.
